A face you can trust

The walls of my apartment building elevators are lined with advertisements. This isn't the first time I've seen this guy in them. I feel strangely compelled to buy whatever it is he is selling..

Balcony construction view

Shanghai is a pretty noisy city, but most of the banging and clanging comes from the construction of new apartment buildings nearby. Here's a shot from my balcony of one of the many buildings I can see in the mid-stage of development.

Carl's Jr again

I often meet people at People's Square and arrive early to grab a bite at Carl's Jr for dinner before doing so. The burgers are not that great, but the chilli cheese fries are the best I've had. I often bought chilli cheese fries in the USA when I lived there, but was always disappointed at the lack of flavour (Hardies, chrome coated diners, etc).

Interestingly read today that Carl's Jr is coming to New Zealand - good to have some variety in terms of burger joints. New Zealand generic fast food brands like McD's and KFC actually taste better than any other of their local versions I've had elsewhere in the world. Better than in China, USA or Iceland. And KFC's fries with their onion salt are still some of the best I have ever tried. Of course, NZ has other better local options like meat pies, roasts and more.
